Dentistry

Crossroads Veterinary Clinic performs routine floatations under sedation, in addition to more advanced dentistry procedures including extractions and mandibular fracture repair.

Oral examinations are performed with a speculum and mirror to evaluate the teeth and surrounding soft tissues for pathology. While most dental work is performed at the clinic, farm visits for routine floatation can also be arranged.

Most domesticated horses benefit from having their teeth examined and floated annually. Clinical signs including dropping of feed, difficulty chewing, malodorous breath, or facial swelling may indicate a dental related problem requiring more immediate veterinary attention.
